The Christian finds early on that the journey with Jesus isn't all a smooth and pleasant path. Some fall by the wayside when they encounter obstacles, others rant and rail because it isn't all they thought it should be. To be sure the Journey has it's beds of beautiful, aromatic roses - complete with thorns which can prick you in the tenderest of spots and it has it's sweet, succulent cherries, complete with pits which sometimes cause you to choke.
Those who choose to follow Jesus were never promised a problem free life. Indeed, He sends us out "as sheep among wolves." He also equips us for the Journey and gives us provision along the way for every challenge, obstacle, and hard place we encounter. It's up to us to how we accept and use all that He provides. For me, the most important thing is to depend on Him for everything. In doing that, more often than not I find myself going upstream, against the current, but going with Jesus, my Lord, my Helper, my Friend.
I'm Sue Smith-Grier, mother of two fabulous grown children, grandmother of one incredibly sweet, intelligent, beloved grandson. I'm daughter and caregiver to my 88 years young mom and sister to two ministers and their wives. I'm also a freelance writer, composer of contemporary Christian songs, storyteller, speaker, and of course, blogger! This site is about my Journey with Jesus, my thoughts about the Journey and lessons I'm learning along the way. I hope you enjoy these pages. I also pray that you will be blessed in some way by something here. I expect some of my thoughts to be controversial, unconventional and maybe even a little off the wall at times. That's what life is like when one travels upstream with Jesus! Enjoy the Journey!
Be blessed,
Sue
